We see lots of babes make the same mistake. They try and lose body fat and so, like you’d expect, they change what they’ve been eating. But even though they start eating what’s typically ‘healthy’ they just don’t see results. Why? Because even though the foods they start eating are healthy, they aren’t the right foods to help them lose body fat. But healthy food means a loss in body fat right? Well, not necessarily…There’s actually a big difference between eating healthy and eating healthy to burn body fat. To better explain our point, here’s an example: Smoothie bowls are healthy and all natural (obviously… 🙃). The benefits? They won’t inflame your digestive system. The problem? They’re also packed with sugar…non inflammatory, natural sugars, but sugar nonetheless. That makes them not so great if you’re trying to lose body fat.But don’t stress! There are so many other healthy, easy to make foods that will get the tick for both your tastebuds and your goals.So what kind of food should you include? Well, when it comes to deciding what’s going on your plate tonight, we recommend working your way from steps 1-3:
- Choose your protein – meat, fish or eggs, even tofu should be your first choice. It’ll help build lean muscle and help your body tick over into ‘fat burning mode.’
- Choose your side dish: opt for salad, veggies or quinoa over pasta, bread or rice. It’ll fill you up, boost your vitamin and mineral intake and minimise your carbohydrate (which when broken down, becomes sugar) consumption.
- Make sure your main drink of choice is water, not fruit juice, not iced tea, just water. You’ll avoid hidden sugars, recover better from your workouts, think clearer, feel better and of course… get results.
And mix it up! Try new meats, veggies and create new sides! You’ll reach your goals and make it interesting along the way.
