Melbourne based South African model and over of sunshine, Terri-Leigh Jacobs knows the value of health in keeping a bikini body all year round. Terri shares on her thoughts on what she believes it means to be truly healthy and what being one of The CE Women means to her.
What does being one of “The CE Women” mean to you?
Being on of “The CE Women” is truly a privilege. I have the opportunity to be apart of a community of strong-minded, beautiful, smart women that empower one another to be their best selves in mind, body, and soul.
What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?
Being truly healthy to me is about having balance, life is a constant whirlwind. The most important thing for me is to have a positive mindset, and nourish my body through healthy diet and exercise.
What do you love about The Body Guide?
I love that The Body Guide is a lifestyle choice, not a ‘quick fix’. Its a guide that encompasses all aspects of what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle; mindset, nutrition, fitness and regeneration. The CE Body Guide is the first guide that truly resonates with me and my personal views.
The CE loves to celebrate inspirational women. Who inspires you, and why?
There are so many inspiring woman that have impacted my life in many different ways; friends, teachers, women throughout history, but my mother has been the greatest positive influence in my life. I would not have been where I am or who I am today if it wasn’t for her. I have been blessed to have the most inspiring woman I know as my mother; she has been my protector, carer, confidant and best friend since I was born – and will continue to be.
What does a typical day in the life of Terri Leigh Jacobs look like?
I don’t know what each day has in store for me, but I like to start my day off with a cup of coffee and I write my to do list. Life whilst being a model and owning my own social media agency can be very fast-paced and unpredictable, so I like to put my mind at ease by listing out everything I have to do for the week and what goals Id like to achieve. Then I would usually go about my day, whether that is a shoot, meetings, or other errands I need to get done. I love to finish my day off by going to the gym or for a run. In the evenings I like to relax and enjoy nutritious dinners with friends and family.
Is there anything you dislike and think needs to change in the health and fitness industry?
I don’t like when companies promote “quick fixes” to health and fitness. Achieving optimum health and fitness is a journey and takes constant effort. Its normal to indulge on special occasions, or be less motivated at times, but its about constantly striving for a healthy lifestyle that ensures success.
Why is your health a priority for you?
Health is a priority for me because having a healthy body and mind is what ensures I feel good and can do everything to the best of my ability. When my mind is at ease, and my body is nourished I know that every action I take is one with purpose.
What’s your favourite quote, and why?
“The mind is everything. What you think you become” – Buddha
I am a firm believer that mindset is the key to success, if you believe in yourself there is nothing that you cannot achieve.
De-stressing, recovering and taking the time to regenerate is often an overlooked aspect of health. What is your ‘go-to’ regeneration activity?
I need to incorporate exercise into my routine to ensure my body is happy, but when I need some time-out I escape by running a luscious candlelit bubble bath. I like to block out every distraction and enjoy my own company – no lights, no phone, no sound.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?
My advice to all women is to always remember your own worth – you are incredible, inspiring, strong women. Everyone is special in their own way, embrace and harness this to be the best individual you can be.
“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
