Food and fitness blogger, magazine columnist and founder of Fit Mixes, Sally O’Neil (AKA @thefitfoodieblog) is ultimate high-achieving multi-tasker who is fiercely passionate about living a life of true health. This girl boss, Instagram-sensation shares her thoughts on what being one of The CE Women means to her.

What does being one of “The CE Women” mean to you?

Being a strong, goal kicking, life loving woman who cares for her body, mind and soul.

What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?

Listening to my body, feeding it whole foods, and skipping the crap. Beyond that, it’s moving my body every day, and living not getting too hung up on body image or calories burnt etc. A well mind is a wellbeing.

What do you love about The Body Guide?

It gives such simple tips and techniques to live your best life. The perfect way to get started or continue your health journey.

The CE loves to celebrate inspirational women. Who inspires you, and why?

There are SO many women who inspire me, not least Ellie Bell who created The Collective Elite. She’s beautiful, talented and intelligent – a triple threat! My second girl crush has to be Sarah Holloway who is co-owner of Matcha Maiden. She’s one of my best friends and mentors. She is constantly evolving her brand and working on new and exciting projects. What a woman.

What does a typical day in the life of The Fit Foodie look like?

No two days are the same! Today I got up and worked out, tracking my workout on a new exercise watch for a client challenge. I then ran up to The Shangri-La Hotel for a morning with my manager Roxy Jacenko – another inspiring woman who knows how to kick goals! I then came home to cuddle my new puppy (Humphrey) and work on my first cookbook and complete some emails. Later tonight I’ll be shipping out orders for Fit Mixes and creating content for my Instagram feeds @thefitfoodieblog and @fit_mixes.

Is there anything you dislike and think needs to change in the health and fitness industry?

I’m going to have a bit of a rant about diet shakes and teas. It upsets me to see inferior products marketed at young women promising to give them a ‘better body’ when they should actually be encouraging them to love who they are. Gah!

Why is your health a priority for you?

When i’m in a good place with my health, I can better serve my businesses, by friend and family. I’m more present, have more energy and zest for life. You have no idea how good your body can feel until you live your healthiest life.

You stay healthy, fit and look good all year round. What inspires you to live this way everyday?

Simple – it makes me feel fabulous. Once you get a hit of endorphins after a great workout, that ‘wellbeing’ feeling is pretty addictive! Looking after myself (regardless of the time of year) means that I can enjoy a treat or two when I fancy, deter colds and flu, have heaps of energy, the list goes on! Be your own inspiration. You don’t need anyone else.

    What makes you feel confident?

Sweat!! Sounds gross, but seriously, there’s nothing like knowing you just kicked ass – makes you feel on top of the world to achieve something you told yourself you couldn’t.

What’s your favourite quote, and why?

“Comparison is the thief of joy” – Theodore Roosevelt.
Work on yourself, and quit worrying what other people think, do and say. You get one life to enjoy, and in the end, there’s only you to please.

Is there a greater cause that you want to use your online influence for? If so, what is it?

Always. I want to show girls like me that you can live a healthy life, feel great and fit into skinny jeans without being on a diet. I also want to inspire people to re-create my food. It’s so simple and tasty – I want to kill the myth that eating well is too expensive and time consuming. I’m living proof that isn’t the case.

De-stressing, recovering and taking the time to regenerate is often an overlooked aspect of health. What is your ‘go-to’ regeneration activity?

I LOVE yoga at the moment. I just completed my 200hr Teacher Training and have seen really benefits to my stress levels from practising regularly.
Don’t underestimate a night on the couch with a good book too! It could be just what you need.

A workout gives you so much more than physical benefits. What do your workouts do for you?

They make me feel empowered, energised and strong baby!!

Having ‘strength’ can mean so many things…what does it mean to you?

Being resilient – in my workouts, in my business, and in my personal life. I don’t take no for an answer and it’s served me well so far.

What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?

Find out what makes you happy, and do more of that. That applies to work, exercise, social stuff and everything in-between!!
