Up and coming trend setter and Melbourne socialite, Eliza Crowder is one to watch. With her growing popularity, this Instagram influencer spoke with us about what she believes it means to be truly healthy and what being one of The CE Women means to her.
What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?
Balance. A balanced approach, where the food you eat is just as important as the effectiveness of your workouts, the quality of your recovery and the content of your thoughts.
Everybody needs some kind of balance between eating healthy, but also treating yourself. Balance between working hard & finding time to relax and enjoy the people closest to you. Balance between socialising and finding time for other people & also taking time out for yourself to clear your mind.
What do you love about The Body Guide?
I think its absolutely brilliant. I would consider myself to be a fairly healthy person with balance but I definitely found myself learning a lot from this book and changing my ways slightly as suggested. To be associated with it now & spreading the word to everyone else makes me so happy. I love that the books main focus is not what you put in your mouth on a daily basis, or how many km’s you’ve run – but looking at it as an overall lifestyle and a way of life that gets you the body you want.
The CE loves to celebrate inspirational women. Who inspires you, and why?
Jacinta Campbell is a big inspiration to me. Why? Because she would be one of the most high in demand models, yet she still finds time to squeeze in exercise daily, she promotes healthy eating and speaks how this amazing relaxed happy & healthy lifestyle she leads. She’s also involved in many charities such as Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation’s White Shirt Campaign, Jeans for Genes and heaps of others. She prioritises her life well and it’s obvious she is passionate in creating an amazing future for not only herself but others too.
What does a typical day in the life of Eliza Crowder look like?
Im between jobs at the moment so I’ve been pretty lucky with having a lot of time to myself… But a day in the life of me at the moment looks like this:
10:00am – KX pilates
11:30am – I usually take myself out to my favourite local café for brunch – and almost always order the smashed av & kale on toast
12:30pm – I like to have some time in the day to myself, so i’ll either watch a movie, catch up with a girlfriend or hangout at home.
3:00 I start getting ready for work – I’ve been working temporarily at Sorrento Hotel so I’ll head down around 3.30pm & finish about 9pm
I’ll get home around 10pm, spend some time with the family then hop into bed.
Why is your health a priority for you?
Health is a priority for me because of the way it makes me feel. I feel mentally stronger & better if I have eaten healthy & done some exercise.
You stay healthy, fit and look good all year round. What inspires you to live this way everyday?
I’ll be honest, it’s not every day that I stick to my routine, but it is most days! Everyone needs a cheat day here and there to stay motivated. You can tell the difference in your body and mind if you have lounged around all day and eaten junk. So I think everyone crashes every now and then and that’s almost enough to inspire you to get up the next morning and get that nice healthy feeling back.
What makes you feel confident?
I’m confident when I know I’ve been doing the right things by my body. I’ve been fuelling it with the right things & I’ve been working out.
What’s your favourite quote, and why?
“Treat people the way you would like to be treated.” This would be my favourite quote because I speak from experience. I’ve been treated not how I would have treated someone else and I know how hard that was – so I always remember that quote and stick by it daily.
De-stressing, recovering and taking the time to regenerate is often an overlooked aspect of health. What is your ‘go-to’ regeneration activity?
Spa & Sauna. I can sit in a sauna in complete silence for hours.
A workout gives you so much more than physical benefits. What do your workouts do for you?
Helps with my mental health a lot. Obviously exercise releases endorphins that make you feel good but it helps with any anxiety I may be dealing with or stress.
Having ‘strength’ can mean so many things…what does it mean to you?
Strength is knowing what suffering feels like and learning to rise above it.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?
Have the courage to live a life true to yourself, not the life others expect of you. Live with purpose, say the courageous thing, celebrate the simple gift & follow your dreams.
