Sydney based model, commerce student and mega beach babe, Dominique Lissa encompasses both beauty and brains. Passionate about all things healthy living, Dom sat down with us to speak about true health & what it means to be one of The CE Women.
What does being one of “The CE Women” mean to you?
I am so excited to be one of The CE Women! Leading a balanced life even in a busy life style is something that has always been a challenge for me, and I hope through my experience and use of the program I can show women that their is no excuse when it comes to health. It should undoubtedly be everyone’s priority.
What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?
“Truly healthy” to me, means being “Truly happy”. From my own experience, I know that these words are interchangeable. Their is a direct link between your health and happiness, and this is my greatest motivation to stay healthy.
What do you love about The Body Guide?
I have The Special Edition and the moment I opened the handbook and it began with talking about the mind, I was hooked. I have read so many books and programs about health that don’t take a holistic approach at living a healthy life, and purely focus on the physical benefits instead of including the mental gains from leading such a lifestyle. Also, The Body Guide is realistic and achievable for all women, so I’m excited to start my program!
The CE loves to celebrate inspirational women. Who inspires you, and why?
My mum inspires me everyday. I have never met a more hard working woman who has put her goals first. Somedays where all I feel like doing is watching Netflix in bed, I think that mum’s working hard everyday, and I should make the most of today, or else I’ll regret it.
What does a typical day in the life of Dominique Elissa look like?
A typical day involves being outside and in the sunshine. I get such cabin fever, even if I’m only home for 30 minutes. To me, we were put on this earth to explore and have adventures. Sydney is such a beautiful and diverse area, and I wish I could spend everyday hiking, swimming and eating picnics on the beach. However, I am a full time model and uni-student making that dream hard to achieve, but if i can have a slice of that daily, I am a very happy lady.
Why is your health a priority for you?
I have struggled with body image throughout my teenage life, and it is so crucial that your health is put first to ensure your mentally stable as well. Nourishing and fuelling our bodies is so crucial for happiness and our bodies deserve to be treated with respect, because we only have one.
You stay healthy, fit and look good all year round. What inspires you to live this way everyday?
I guess being healthy and fit comes with leading a well-balanced life style. I don’t wake up and think “Ahh, I have to go to gym”. I wake up and if my body feels like rest, ill do some light yoga, or if i want to just be outside ill go for a run. I really believe that if you listen to your body and nourish it properly, you will be able to feel incredible all year round.
What makes you feel confident?
I am my most confident at the beach, with salty hair and no make up. I love the feeling of the small sand pieces on my skin and the whole environment makes me feel fresh and invigorated.
De-stressing, recovering and taking the time to regenerate is often an overlooked aspect of health. What is your ‘go-to’ regeneration activity?
I absolutely love Yoga, it is such a great way to regenerate and de-stress. I have started practicing alone and it has been a wonderful experience, allowing my body to move the way feels right, without following the instructions of a teacher. Rest is crucial for our well-being, and I’m grateful to have found yoga.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?
My best advice is that progress takes time, and that we should not compare ourselves to anyone else. The journey of improving your health is tricky at times, but when it becomes your natural routine, you will find a great deal of happiness.
It is also important to focus on yourself and your potential. I have fallen into striving for a specific body, however in reality, it wasn’t achievable because of so many other factors such as genetics! Simply, just eat right and exercise and you will feel wonderful, and all those hard moments on the way are well worth it at the end.
