Crowned 2016 Miss World Australia and Variety Australia Ambassador, Madeline Cowe is a show of beauty, brains and heart. A lover of the outdoors and advocate of all things health, Madeline talks to us about what she believes it means to be truly health as well as what it means to her to be one of The CE Women.
What does being one of “The CE Women” mean to you?
Being one of ‘The CE Women’ gives me the opportunity to be a role model and promote and share the importance of a healthy lifestyle that The CE have created.
What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?
Many people believe that being truly healthy is to do with appearance. What I believe, and what The CE promotes, is that it really is so much more than that. Yes, being healthy may change your appearance however being ‘truly healthy’ is a lifestyle and it all begins with your mindset. You should not only love the way you look but the way you feel as well.
What do you love about The Body Guide & Handbook?
What I love about The Body Guide & Handbook and what also makes it unique is that it does not only address ‘fitness’ and ‘nutrition’ but also addresses the importance of ‘mindset’ and ‘regeneration’. This not only allows The CE followers to gain knowledge in regards to fitness and nutrition but to have access to a more complete guide on their journey of creating a healthy lifestyle.
The CE loves to celebrate inspirational women. Who inspires you, and why?
There are so many inspirational women, from celebrities to students to social media icons and everyone in between. However if I were to pick one person I would have to say Rolene Strauss. Rolene is a medical student who is passionate about health, women empowerment, education and charity. Being crowned Miss World 2014 Rolene used her reign to promote her passions and has now created ‘The Strauss Foundation’ which aims to be a positive contributor in society through the promotion of health education and charity.
Is there anything you dislike and think needs to change in the health and fitness industry?
I think that it has improved quite a lot over the last few years but the fact that some people continue to believe that skinny = healthy. This is not the case, everyone has different body types where they will hold more fat or grow muscle faster in certain areas. To be healthy you have to have the right mindset, good nutrition and fitness plan.
Why is your health a priority for you?
Maintaining my health hasn’t just improved my physical appearance but also my mental and emotional well-being, giving me more confidence and making me a generally happier person.
What’s your favourite quote, and why?
“In the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take”
I think the quote can apply to so many different aspects of people’s lives. For me in particular I grew up in a (very) small town, so when opportunity came my way I learnt to take what I could and from this I have had so many amazing experiences.
A workout gives you so much more than physical benefits. What do your workouts do for you?
Workouts give me more confidence, more energy and improve my mental and emotional mindset.
Having ‘strength’ can mean so many things…what does it mean to you?
I think when you think of strength you automatically think of physical strength. However, in so many aspects of people lives, especially fitness, it is your emotional and mental strength that pushes you further and further towards your goal every day.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?
The best piece of advice I think I could give is to never compare yourself with others, especially in regards to your fitness journey. Instead, compare yourself with yourself – take photos and keep a diary. In a month’s time compare photos and notes and you will notice the changes, not only in how you look but how you feel as well.
