Self-professed bikini lover, model and mega beach babe Hannah Perera knows the value of health in keeping a bikini-ready bod, all year round. Hannah shares her thoughts on what it means to be truly healthy as well as what being one of The CE Women means to her.
What does being one of “The CE Women” mean to you?
Being one of ‘The CE Women’ means a great deal to me as it finally gives me a way to be able to give something back to women that ask me for help, and give them a guide in the right direction to being fit and healthy instead of just basic advice.
What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?
Being truly healthy to me isn’t just about having a rocking body. It’s when you are able to wake up everyday full of energy and excitement to start the day and do everything that you want to do.
What do you love about The Body Guide & Handbook?
The Body Guide and Handbook to me are like my bible. The Body Handbook is amazing to show you different exercises and recipes to stay healthy and fit but then when you add it with The Body Guide it helps to show you how to put it all together to get the best outcome for your body.
The CE loves to celebrate inspirational women. Who inspires you, and why?
I know this is very cliché but my mum is 100% my inspiration. She has taught me to love myself for all my flaws and to recognise my strength. She’s taught me how to be understanding of other people and never to judge a book by its cover. And at 60 she still has a rocking body.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?
Be confident with who you are and learn to be in love yourself.
Is there anything you dislike and think needs to change in the health and fitness industry?
I think personally that people need to not focus so much on your BMI as I personally have always been under the average healthy mark for my height but my doctor says I’m as healthy as I can be, as your weight doesn’t determine how healthy you are, as weight can vary on so many different things like muscle etc. To be healthy is what’s going on inside your body, so as long as what’s inside your body is all good then you are all good it’s as simple as that.
You stay healthy, fit and look good all year round. What inspires you to live this way everyday?
To be honest, my mum does. For her age she looks and feels incredible and she says its all due to being fit and healthy her whole life so to me I think if I wanna look and feel that good when I’m older then I’ve got to follow the same path.
What’s your favourite quote, and why?
“You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important” this is my favourite quote of all time and I have it on my wall as it’s something that whenever I am down about myself it helps me to get back up and keep going. It also reminds me to love myself for who I am, flaws and all.
De-stressing, recovering and taking the time to regenerate is often an overlooked aspect of health. What is your ‘go-to’ regeneration activity?
For me my favourite things to do to de-stress and recover is to cook as I also work as a chef, so for me cooking is so relaxing as all my focus is towards making something delicious and beautiful as I love trying to make it look amazing when it gets served out. I also like to get a bit artistic and paint or buy a colouring in book and just colour for hours.
A workout gives you so much more than physical benefits. What do your workouts do for you?
To me a workout makes me feel really happy, as I feel like I’ve actually done something to benefit myself and my health. Also the fitter I get the more energy I start having for my days a head which I personally find rather satisfying.
