Melbourne based model and self-professed adventurer and nature lover with an affinity for sunsets, Emily Nash stands for a lifestyle approach to health and wellbeing. With a big heart and a smile to match, Emily shares her thoughts on what she believes it means to be truly healthy and what being one of The CE Women means to her.

 

What does being one of “The CE Women” mean to you?

I believe in everything that The Collective Elite stand for, so being a representation of that is really rewarding. I pride myself on having a well balanced lifestyle and want to encourage and empower other women to do the same. Being a CE Woman means I have a greater voice in inspiring others to live a healthy life.

What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?

To me, it means being healthy in all aspects of life. From nourishing yourself from the inside and out, to healthy relationships and friendships, to the right mindset and outlook on life. To me being truly healthy is living to your full potential.

What do you love about The Body Guide & Handbook?

The chapter on Mindset. I just love this section and believe that it is so important in achieving anything in life. Having the right mindset and attitude is a core requirement to be happy and successful in whatever it may be. Without it you have set yourself up for failure. You could have all the resources in the world. The right training, eating the right food, but if you don’t have a positive mindset it just won’t work. Believing in yourself is the first step in accomplishing anything!

A lot of women inspire me, some close family and friends, and other women I’ve never even met before. It is always the way that these women carry themselves, how they live their life and how they treat others is what inspires me. And in particular, my best friend Ally. She has been battling a disease called Myasthenia Gravis which is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that relates to muscle weakness. There are days when she struggles to physically breathe, to walk, to do day to day things that we all take for granted. Ally has been through so much but still has the fire in her eye and the love for life to keep pushing on and not let the disease define her, which I find so incredibly inspiring. And on top of that she is hilarious and beautiful in and out!

What does a typical day in the life of Emily Nash look like?

With work, every day is different. But typically, my day would start with a Pilates class followed by my go to breakfast, a smoothie and a protein ball. Then head off to a shoot or job for the day. Or if I have the day off, I will catch up with friends and have lunch at local cafes or go for walks along the coast. I love getting outdoors so whenever the sun is out you’ll generally find me at the beach!

Is there anything you dislike and think needs to change in the health and fitness industry?

The one thing I dislike about the health and fitness industry is the “quick fixes”. I feel as though they are phasing out now and aren’t as popular but they are still around. All those detox teas, shakes or weird tablets that claim to help you lose weight quickly just aren’t realistic. In order to look and feel your best, it takes time and an ongoing commitment. Not a couple of cups of detox tea.

You stay healthy, fit and look good all year round. What inspires you to live this way everyday?

As silly or strange as it may sound, I inspire myself to live this way. I want to look back on my life and know that I lived it to my full potential. That I enjoyed every moment, that it changed me for the better and evolved me to be the person I am today. I think of my future, hopes and dreams and that inspires me to keep pushing on because I’m excited about it!

What’s your favourite quote, and why?

“What Susie says of Sally, says more of Susie than of Sally” is my all time favourite because it just couldn’t be more true! We all have the choice of how we treat others and if we choose to treat others poorly or talk negatively about others, then that says more about your character and respect, then what you have to say about them.

De-stressing, recovering and taking the time to regenerate is often an overlooked aspect of health. What is your ‘go-to’ regeneration activity?

My go-to is definitely a good old fashioned bubble bath! If I’m really feeling stressed out or just blah, I’ll run a hot bath, light some candles, put on a face mask, use beautiful scented oils or salts and play some good music. Makes me feel better every time.

What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?

The best piece of advice I would give to women is so simple and so cliché but, treat others how you would want to be treated. And this is bringing people up, not pulling them down. Being supportive, friendly, caring and compassionate to everyone. Every single person has a story that you may not know about, no one is better than anyone else. So instead of judging or treating people poorly, think, is this how I would want to be treated?
