Fashion lover, socialite, model and Instagram personality, Carly Gordon is seriously not your average accountant. While continuing to make a serious name for herself, Carly is always sure to put her health first, she she passionately stands for the lifestyle approach to health and fitness, even covering such topics on her blog. We recently sat down with her to chat about true health and what being one of The CE Women means to her.
What does being one of “The CE Women” mean to you?
I am really excited to be on board as one of The CE Women – it is an amazing community of talented diverse women and it is a real honour to be sharing this journey with them. We are a bunch of hard working, busy individuals taking the time to spread a message of health and fitness in our own individual ways.
What does being ‘truly healthy’ mean to you?
I think truly healthy to me means balance in all aspects of life. Particularly mind and body so taking the time to enjoy some quality me time as well as exercise and eating a balanced diet.
What do you love about The Body Guide & Handbook?
I love the idea of rethinking the scales and bringing in an element of mind/spirit. It is a really holistic approach which I think other programs lack and the recipes seem very easy to follow and varied.
The CE loves to celebrate inspirational women. Who inspires you, and why?
My Mum is my inspiration as cliche as it sounds. We are really similar and I always admired her hard work and passion for what she did whether that was work/life or family.
What does a typical day in the life of Carly Gordon look like?
I work full time as an accountant so my typical day normally starts at 6:30 when I get up to go to the gym before work. You’ll normally find me smashing out an F45 class at F45 Hawthorn or I am excited to be getting into Boxing at HurtLocker Richmond. From there I will head into the city, grab some breakfast and a coffee and dive into my work. I finish around 5:30 then there is normally a function or event on before going home for a cup of lemon & ginger tea then bed!
You stay healthy, fit and look good all year round. What inspires you to live this way everyday?
I think once you get into a routine a workout and eating well is something to look forward to. I have had some bad food intolerance’s over the years so I find when I am eating well and keeping active I feel better and have more energy to keep up with life.
What makes you feel confident?
I think acceptance is confidence. It took me years of struggling with body image issues to get to a point where I was comfortable in my own skin and with who I was that my confidence really began to grow. The Miss Universe program was also a massive stepping stone for me, now there is nothing more thrilling or confidence boosting than being up on stage.
Is there a greater cause that you want to use your online influence for? If so, what is it?
If there is one thing I could use my “influence” for it would be body awareness and acceptance. I am not your typical body shape and I think that gives me a point of difference. I went to an all girls school, I saw so many girls struggle with eating disorders but it was particularly hard to watch my little sister struggle for so many years. I am very protective of my sisters and there was nothing I could do to help. If my approach to health and fitness or body image could help just one person with their personal battles then that would be amazing.
A workout gives you so much more than physical benefits. What do your workouts do for you?
I think it is an hour of the day where I can focus on myself and my workout rather than be distracted by hundreds of different things or thinking about work.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to women today?
My advice would be to live in the moment. We are so guilty of grabbing out our phones to snap what is going on but quite often you forget to take a moment and appreciate what is actually in front of you.
